About
Our School
Brasilia International School is a private school established in 1998, primarily to serve the international community in Brasilia. The goal of BIS is to provide a high-quality U.S. style education based on a Biblical worldview. Students, families and leaders from all countries, cultures, and religions are treated with respect and fairness. The programs at BIS are directed toward individual enrichment in the following areas: Intellectual, Social, Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Development.
BIS believes that each student is a unique creation of infinite worth. All students are encouraged to pursue academic excellence. The school recognizes that each student's abilities and learning styles are diverse and should be individually valued and celebrated. These differences are taken into consideration in the educational process, offering student support, enrichment opportunities and after school activities. BIS partners with North Star Academy to provide additional online courses, enriching the student's learning experience and allowing BIS to offer an accelerated graduation option.
Students are encouraged to make wise choices as they interact with their peers and their teachers within the school community. As students learn to behave responsibly at school, they gain necessary life skills to become successful, contributing leaders who will positively impact the world.
Brasilia International School is a member of the global school system known as the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS). BIS is one of fourteen NICS schools in twelve different countries on five continents around the world.
Like all schools that are members of NICS, BIS is a non-denominational organization that provides a high quality North American style of education in English. The curriculum provides an excellent foundation for continued studies in other international schools and post-secondary studies in the United States, Canada, England and other countries that follow a similar academic structure.
BIS offers educational opportunities without regard to ethnic or national origin, race, color, religion, sex, creed, age, or disability.
Director's Welcome
Clark "Skip"Hults
School Director
Greetings! This is my third year as the director of this amazing school. I have a degree in Bible and Theology, an advanced degree in Business Management and two more advanced degrees in Education. My educational degrees are from Fordham University in New York, New York.
With my Bible and business degrees, I have pastored churches for twenty-three years, and I have been ordained for thirty-five years. I have also been a business manager for twelve years in banks, a church and Teen Challenge for eighteen years. I felt lead to go back to school for education, while I continued to pastor and minister in churches. Upon graduation with my Masters of Education, I began to teach. After five years of teaching, I became a school principal for three years. I then became a school superintendent in Northern New York for thirteen years and the last two years I trained my replacement. I thought I would retire, but I chose to come Brasilia International School in Brasilia, Brazil.
The growth at the school has been miraculous. Less than three years ago, BIS was a struggling school with only 76 students, but it has grown to 300 students from twenty-five different countries.
